We were thinking about taking a day trip from Amsterdam and after doing a lot of research, we decided to visit Utrecht, which is only a 30-minute train ride away from Amsterdam. We fell in love with this little town the moment we arrived there. Utrecht is one of the Netherlands' oldest cities. It's smaller and less crowded than Amsterdam. The center is very compact and almost all points of interest are within walking distance. We arrived there on a Sunday morning while there were almost no people around and had a couple hours to enjoy the silent streets of the city. The weather was perfect that day - gray overcast skies - not too hot, not too cold. After doing a little bit of walking around we had lunch at the GYS cafe (the food there was amazing!) and had coffee at 30 ML coffee roasters.
One of my favorite places in Utrecht is Pandhof garden of the Dom Church. This hidden garden is located between the Dom Church and Utrecht University Hall. It's a magically peaceful spot. I loved sitting there listening to a street artist playing good music and taking in the beauty of this place. That day was unforgettable and I'm so happy we got a chance to explore wonderful Utrecht
