After a choppy day and night crossing the Norwegian Sea, we arrived early in the morning to Leknes — a small town on Norway’s Lofoten Islands that’s surrounded by breathtaking jagged peaks. In the few hours we had to explore before the all-aboard call, we managed to see quite a lot. First we stopped to admire the beautiful 18th-century Flakstad Church, which was built with Russian timber. Then we continued on to Sund and got to see a local blacksmith at work. Finally, we were fortunate enough to walk through Nusfjord, an idyllic fishing village that has been preserved to look just like it did in the late 19th and early 20th century. The Lofoten Islands are incredibly beautiful, so I recommend spending several days if you can. We definitely wished we’d had more time there!
Cape Cod is the ultimate summer getaway spot on the East Coast. Just an hour away from Boston, MA, it offers beautiful beaches, fun outdoor activities, picturesque lighthouses, and great restaurants. At the beginning of June, my husband Tom and I spent a wonderful weekend on the Cape. Here's a little recap of our trip with some recommendations.
I want to share with you one of my favorite restaurants in Copenhagen - Hønen & Ægget, which means "the chicken and the egg.” I can't think of a better place for Sunday brunch. This place is quite small but beautiful and cozy with gorgeous tile tables, burning candles, and beautiful plants everywhere. The atmosphere of this restaurant is so warm and inviting, and the food - oh the food - don't remember the last time I had a meal that was so good!
I posted a photo of our Airbnb in Copenhagen on Instagram and received so many messages asking about it, so I decided to share more photos of it here. I must say, I really enjoyed the process of looking for an apartment in Copenhagen, because every single one of them looks just amazing. Danish people know how to decorate their homes. Finally, after looking for a while, I chose this apartment and I loved it so much that I didn't want to leave it. It's bright and airy, with lots plants, candles, and other beautiful things. The location is very convenient – a 20 minute ride away from the airport, close to the center and many attractions. The apartment also has a Nespresso machine, a TV with Netflix, free wi-fi and everything you need to feel truly at home.
I had been dreaming about visiting Amsterdam for such a long time, and this year my dream finally came true! Amsterdam was everything I'd imagined it to be and even better. It was one of those trips when you fall in love with your destination the minute you step out of the plane. Out of all cities I've been to, Amsterdam is definitely the most beautiful one, with its unique architecture, lovely coffee shops and many canals. Unfortunately, it was a short visit, so my husband and I decided not to spend our time visiting museums and doing other "touristy" things. Instead, we ended up just wandering around the streets with no final destination in mind, stopping for quick coffee breaks, and taking pictures of every bicycle standing next to a pretty door.
A couple of weeks ago my husband and I went on a little weekend getaway to Stowe, Vermont. I love taking a break from city life from time to time to just enjoy nature and small New England towns. Vermont is beautiful, for sure. I wish we could go up there more often! We got to stay at the newest boutique hotel in Stowe - Field Guide - which belongs to the Lark Hotel collection. And this place was so charming!
