This summer we have continued to explore New England. Recently we decided to spend a weekend in Kennebunkport, ME. I can't believe that I've lived in Boston for 4 years and haven't had a chance to visit this cute little town before now. It is incredibly charming.
A couple of weeks ago my husband and I went on a little weekend getaway to Stowe, Vermont. I love taking a break from city life from time to time to just enjoy nature and small New England towns. Vermont is beautiful, for sure. I wish we could go up there more often! We got to stay at the newest boutique hotel in Stowe - Field Guide - which belongs to the Lark Hotel collection. And this place was so charming!
Last week I finally got to to spend a few days in NYC. I had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel Giraffe, and I loved everything about this place. First of all, I want to point out that the location of this hotel could not be more convenient. It's located on the corner of Park Avenue South and 26th Street - close to the subway, and just a few minutes away from Madison Square Park and the Flatiron Building. Despite its central location, the hotel is very quiet and has calm and relaxing atmosphere. The staff was extraordinarily polite and welcoming - they went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Our room was very spacious, with a living room area and a separate bedroom. And the bed was so comfortable that I found it extremely difficult to climb out of it in the morning. Hotel Giraffe is a perfect place to get a good night’s rest after a day full of walking around and exploring the city.
Only just recently I discovered how wonderful it is to go hiking in the mountains. I've never considered myself a very sporty person, so I assumed hiking wasn't for me. But to live in New England, home of White Mountain National Park, and not spend time there in the mountains would be a huge loss, don't you agree? I've found a few beginner level mountain trails that haven't been too strenuous, but that have still offered amazing views of the surrounding landscape. One of those peaks that I've hiked is Mt. Willard.
One of the things I like to do on cold saturday mornings is visiting the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. I've been there countless number of times, but still find something new and interesting every time I go there. This April I got to see the "Mega Cities Asia" exhibition showcasing contemporary art created by eleven artists from five different megacities—Seoul, Shanghai, Beijing, Delhi, and Mumbai. Highly recommend to visit it when you have a chance. The exhibition closes on July 17. 2016.
On rainy April days I love to look back through our photos from the Dominican Republic, where my husband and I spent and unforgettable week last summer. We searched for a long time for the right hotel, trying to find the optimal balance of price and quality. Ultimately we ended up choosing the Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar - a decision we didn't regret at all! There was a sea of food and entertainment, pleasant and kind hotel staff, and most importantly - the incredible beauty of the beach and the turquoise water of the Atlantic, which, it turns out, can be very warm!
